About Kenny Schaaf
The Mortgage Sheriff
Nearly 30 Years Serving the Community. Now Helping Families Achieve Homeownership.
For most of my career, my job was simple: protect the people in my community.
Before becoming a mortgage loan officer, I spent nearly 30 years serving as a firefighter/EMT, 911 dispatcher, and deputy sheriff. Those years taught me the importance of preparation, integrity, and doing the right thing, especially when the stakes are high.
Buying a home is one of the biggest financial decisions most people will ever make. It deserves the same level of attention and commitment.
That’s why I became The Mortgage Sheriff.
A Different Kind of Mortgage Experience
The mortgage process doesn’t have to be confusing.
My goal is simple: explain your options in plain English, answer your questions honestly, and help you make informed decisions without pressure or surprises.
Whether you’re purchasing your first home, refinancing, buying an investment property, or using a VA loan you’ve earned through military service, I believe you deserve straight answers and dependable guidance from someone who takes your financial future seriously.
Helping Those Who Serve Others
Because of my background, I have a special passion for helping:
- First Responders
- Law Enforcement Officers
- Firefighters
- EMS Professionals
- 911 Dispatchers
- Veterans
- Nurses and Healthcare Professionals
- First-Time Homebuyers throughout Florida
I understand that many public safety professionals earn income differently than traditional office workers. Overtime, shift differential, special assignments, and secondary employment are common parts of the job. Knowing how to properly document that income can make a significant difference during the mortgage process.
It’s experience I don’t have to learn from a handbook because I’ve lived it.
Why “The Mortgage Sheriff?”
The badge has always represented something important to me.
Integrity.
Accountability.
Service.
Those same values guide every mortgage transaction I handle today.
My commitment is simple:
- Be honest.
- Communicate clearly.
- Return calls.
- Solve problems.
- Protect your interests throughout the process.
I don’t believe in high-pressure sales tactics. I believe in building relationships that last long after closing day.
Education Before Sales
One of my passions is educating buyers, Realtors, and first responders about the mortgage process.
Through my blog, social media, videos, and community outreach, I strive to simplify complex mortgage topics so people can make confident decisions.
An informed client is always my best client.
